Experience

June 2019 – Anna Lewis, Designer Maker.
This placement I was able to learn new skills such as wax carving and electroforming. I was also given the insight on how to price my work and the best places to start selling. Anna then asked me to assist her on workshops, one in particular was run by the Mission Gallery and was for 13/14-year olds. I was to lead half of the workshop, so I collaborated with Anna to discuss what materials I needed and I also created sample boards to demonstrate.

July 2019 – Julia Griffiths Jones, Maker.
This placement involved planning a workshop for adults in Oriel Myrddin Gallery Carmarthen. I prepared many samples within the studio, of which I would demonstrate within the workshop. Not only did I gain invaluable knowledge of working with a Maker, but I was also able to create a contact with the gallery manager and find out how the source work to be exhibited.

Personal Statement

I am a designer maker who loves to make ideas and drawing come to life, using an array of materials which I am accomplished in, from hand cutting Silver to lazer cutting Acrylic and water jet cutting Steel. Having a diverse skill set allows me to achieve the best possible outcomes, with many new and exciting ideas along the way. My strong drawing skills enhance this ability and are constantly seen within my sketchbook. From each new idea to producing the final piece, each design process is completely unique to suit the specific needs of a brief.

I am always keen to learn new skills both traditional and digital to further my development, which will allow me to stand out in this ever-changing design world.
